Pair of KACHAN rugs (Iran) 2nd third of the 20th century Dimensions : 206 x 136cm and 200 x 136cm. Technical characteristics : Wool velvet on a cotton foundation. In a green garden, by a stream, under the shelter of a blossoming tree, a group of men and women are discussing and, for some, indulging in libations. Their rich clothes show, in a certain way, of an extraction of the higher castes. They are all of Mohammedan obedience, except for the man sitting by the stream, who strangely resembles Christ. The marine border is decorated with multicolored flower stalks, scattered with birds, characters on foot, seated and decorating medallions (rewoven heads)
