MELAYER carpet (Persia), late 19th century Dimensions : 210 x 127cm. Technical characteristics : Wool velvet on a cotton foundation. A navy field supports an ivory counter field, hexagonal, oblong and with arabesques; it is used as a case for a navy medallion, lozenge-shaped with spearheads. The whole is covered with an inextricable sowing of small stylized flowers, multicolored. Four counter borders, two cream with small "Kotchaks" and two brick with flowers frame the main blue border with polychrome flowered stems.
