TRANSYLVANIAN RUG (Romania), 2nd third of the 20th century Dimensions : 360 x 270cm. Technical characteristics : Wool velvet on cotton foundation. A ruby field with stylized vegetation and small animals supports an octagonal ivory counter field, crenellated and serrated, covered with flowering stems, polychrome flowers, stars of the Medes and birds. The central octagonal medallion navy with interlacing, is decorated with a cross vegetalized ivory. Eight counter borders ivory, sky and anthracite frame the main border ruby, all nine being garlands of flowers in polychrome. Nice set.
