Carpet BOUKHARA (Central Asia), end of the 19th century Technical characteristics : Wool velvet on wool foundation. Dimensions : 312 x 211cm. A brick red field supports five columns of fifteen polychrome "Gühls" "Tekkés", interspersed with secondary "Gühls" with starred crosses, with "Kotchaks", framed by a wide main border with a series of radiating octagonal medallions with "Armenian" crosses. Two magnificent reserves called "elems" finish each end of the carpet with geometric leaf patterns.
