MELAYER carpet (Persia), end of the 19th century Dimensions : 194 x 125cm. Technical characteristics : Wool velvet on a cotton foundation. An anthracite field hosts three asymmetrical ivory hexagons with jagged polychrome borders. The whole is covered by a decoration of stylized flowers called "Herati". Five pastel counter borders enclose the main navy with garlands of lotus flowers in full bloom.
